TooTall T Very interesting documentary. They spell out all of inconsistancies and lies and obvious cover ups, then the last episode basically tries to convince you none of it happened, that all of the accusers were crazy and all of a sudden all of the facts (like how did danny cut one wrist 8 times and cut his tendons, then somehow cut his other wrist?) are no longer facts, everything is dismissed as hoax adjacent. Honestly, either they knew it was nonsense all along, or someone convinced them to finish the doc with 'it's all nonsense'. The entire documentary points to these vague string pullers behind these events without actually digging deeper. They barrage you with random “tentacles” of the octopus and don’t actually tie anything together in a cohesive way. Just seems like a cash grab for the American conspiracy nut crowd. The story itself is intriguing but the end result does not satisfy anything. I get it that some things never get solved but this story meanders through various events never quite pulling anything into reality. If it sounds like I’m talking in circles it’s because I’m having a hard time explaining such a horrible documentary. This is an example of yet another documentary that could have been told in an hour and a half and saved a lot of time. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Michael J A fascinating story told by the absolute wrong people.The wildness of this topic is completely drowned out by the utter inability of the documentarians to effectively tell the story. Poor choice after poor choice reduces this attempt at a roaring story into nothing more than a whimper. Director Zachary Treitz has no directorial experience to speak of, and it shows. His obsession with style over story never lets up, which is negatively compounded by the fact that his sense of style is so poor. Opting for intentionally exaggerated handheld camera shake, it's a relief when we get 30 seconds of producer Christian Hansen holding the camera in episode 3... but why is Christian able to dp with such a steady frame when Zachary cannot?An already complex story, the producers make a number of unconscionable choices that build up the weeds for the viewer rather than distilling the story cogently. Perhaps the most unforgivable is the choice to make producer Christian Hansen - the modern day investigative journalist telling his own version of this story - also the actor to portray Danny Casolaro in flashbacks - who is the investigative journalist at the heart of the story. They look alike, they're independently pursuing the same story, and it's not until halfway through episode 2 that you might realize sometimes Christian is speaking and portraying himself, and other times he's sometimes speaking and portraying as if he's the other journalist Danny. Awful decision for so many reasons. Ultimately I would love to see this story told by adequate documentarians who have the professional experience and the artistic capacity to do so effectively. As we have it though, is a great opportunity squandered by the ego of the producers to think they are the guys for the job, rather than hiring the right team and then getting out of the way. Matrix dwellers want magical proof for every single thing while ignoring that which is already proven - assassinations were ordered by the Military Industrial Complex in efforts to rule the world. Whether Daniel committed suicide or was also assassinated is a side issue to the assassinations that are already well documented here. In 1991, Vanity Fair, essentially dismissed Casolaro as delusional, and that seemed to be the last word. Over the years, however, conspiracy spelunkers like myself have looked at Casolaro from afar and wondered what is the myth and what is the reality.For three decades the fate of Casolaro has remained a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Until ... Christian Hansen and then Zachery Treitz decided to throw caution to wind and plunge into the rabbit hole. When they emerged years later, they had the answers to many of the questions mavens of the clandestine have asked over the years.
