Can You Eat Cake On A Keto Diet?

Yes, you can absolutely eat cake if you're living a low carb lifestyle. However, you can't just pick up any piece of delicious looking cake and expect it not to knock you out of ketosis.

If you want to have your cake and eat it too, opt for a keto cake like this Chocolate Keto Cake or another one of my low carb cake recipes.

What Is Keto Cake Made Of?

The batter for Keto Chocolate Cake is made up of:

Most of these items you probably already have in your pantry if you are new to a low-carb or keto diet. You may have to invest in a couple of ingredients, and then you'll be baking your favorite Keto desserts in no time!

How Do You Make Keto Chocolate Cake In The Instant Pot?

First, let me tell you WHY you need Instant Pot Cake recipes. The hot steam environment in a pressure cooker makes the lightest, fluffiest cakes you've ever had. They tend to be moister--and much though you might hate that word, you know you love the taste of light, tender, moist cakes!

When you're making a low carb cake with almond flour or coconut flour, you want to use every trick in the book to get a light cake. So here's how you make it.

  • Mix. Mix together all ingredients using a hand mixer, until the mixture is well-incorporated, and looks fluffy. This will keep the cake from being dense as almond flour cakes can sometimes be.
  • Pour. Grease a heat-proof pan that fits inside your Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker. Pour the cake batter into this pan.I used a 3-cup Bundt Pan.
  • Water. In the inner liner of your Instant Pot, place two cups of water, and asteamer rack. Place the foil-covered pot on the trivet.
  • Pressure Cook. Close the Instant Pot, and cook for 20 minutes under high pressure, and allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure.

How Do You Make Keto Chocolate Cake In The Oven?

  • Pre-Heat. Grease an 8-inch cake pan. Turn oven to 350F.
  • Mix. Mix together all ingredients using a hand mixer, until the mixture is well-incorporated, and looks fluffy. This will keep the cake from being dense as almond flour cakes can sometimes be.
  • Bake. Pour into the greased pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a knife inserted in the center of the Keto Chocolate Cake emerges clean.

This Cake Doesn't Need Frosting?

This keto chocolate cake is very chocolaty, therefore, I don't use icing. It really tastes quite rich on its own, but I'm sure a little whipped cream could only enhance your dessert. If the icing is non-negotiable, then try my Two-ingredient icing!

Tips and Tricks for this Keto Chocolate Cake:

  • Mix. Make sure to beat the batter very well so your cake is not heavy.
  • Frosting. The cake is sweet enough on its own, but you can use whipped cream for an additional indulgence. Or top with my Two-Ingredient Icing.
  • Pan. Use a metal pan, but if you only have a glass one be sure it’s oven proof. Glass doesn’t conduct heat as well as metal does, so you may have to cook it longer.
  • Note that you CAN NOT substitute coconut flour for almond flour! If you want a coconut flour recipe, use the one for this keto chocolate cake with coconut flour

    Dear twosleevers,

I loved your recipe, I made some modifications to your recipe that cut down time, instead of coconut oil , I incorporated in some of my homemade instant pot Greek yogurt, instead throwing all the eggs in at once I put in three into the mixture and took the three egg whites whipped them until they where stiff enough and folded them in to the mixture to ensure lightness and added the walnuts at the end, can we say yummy.

This recipe was so easy to make. I didn't have any cream so I substituted it for almond milk. Delicious!

This is an awesome recipe! It tastes great! I mixed half granulated and half confectioner erythritol and the granulated texture came through. It is already really sweet and moist. Is there a way to cut down on the sugar without changing the texture? If yes, this would so be a 5 star cake for me! Thanks!

I made this one tonight. I haven't tasted it yet but the batter remnants were amazing. I used the Instant Pot method and I had to add 15 minutes, so a total of 35 minutes high pressure + 10 minutes natural release, so the center of the cake cooked through. I am making a double layer birthday cake so I made one cake in my 6 qt. and one in my 8 qt. They cooked similarly.

I look forward to trying this recipe. I have been eating keto for three years now, but just came across your fantastic website! I love the beautiful logo using spice, herbs (cayenne and cilantro?) and a fork to create the name. What is the significance of the name "two sleevers?" It makes me think of the saying re: rolling up your sleeves and getting to work, but I am not sure if that was the intention or if there is more to it than that? Thanks for everything you do, John

I made this and it was delicious. Like many others, it took much longer to cook though. I did mine in the oven and it looked like chocolate pudding after 30 minutes. I ended up cooking it for 50 minutes and it was great. I think the cook time needs to be revisited as so many have this problem. Also, mine did not come out nearly as high as the one in the picture, but it was very tasty and I would certainly make it again!

Tastes really good. Instant pot cooking time wasn't enough; it turned out like a lava cake or more like pudding in the middle.

I made this cake before in my pressure cooker and it was delicious. I made the the mistake of putting on a vented silicone lid in my pressure cooker this time around and it is not cooked the whole way through. If you are using a vented silicone cover, it appears that it needs a longer cooking time. I'm finishing mine in the oven now.

Hello I made this cake for the first time today and it was delicious, but although I followed the instructions it didn’t cook all the way through - it came out sort of like a chocolate soufflé. I think I need to up the cook time, but not sure -should I go from 20 to 25 or 20 to 22. I have the Ultra 6, btw. TY

I know you used a bundt pan in tje instant pot, but sould a bundt pan in the oven work ok? Same cooking temp/time?

A bundt Pan in the oven will work. I’d try 350f but I don’t know how long it would need to bake.
