From Rejections to Connections - Creating Community & Finding Success In Ep. 6 of Thoughts & Transitions, we spent time with Basant Shenouda, AKA BasantBlasts!See, Basant is building an impressive career - as aUN Women Delegate, an Employee at LinkedIn, a Master’s student at Harvard & Public speaker with sessions at Stanford and Multiple FAANG companies on personal branding, job hunting, networking, and employer branding. Most importantly, Basant has built a brand with one of her core pillars being to show other people they are not alone in their struggles. We often go through things and think we are alone; in this episode, we discuss some of her amazing feats! But beyond that - we spent time discussing things many of us go through. The emotions of graduating without a job as an international student and how to deal with that, experiencing multiple rejections in the job search (200+ rejections), the importance of community on one’s journey, what gives her energy at this point in life, and some fun stuff (favourite Beyonce song, Harry Styles concert review, living in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ireland, etc. etc.) TLDR: It was an amazing conversation - 100% recommend it. How To Make Friends As An Adult a.k.a.How To Build Genuine Connections On LinkedIn- Introduce yourself regularly - who you are, what you do, how you help- Talk to your audience, listen to what people are saying about their problems- Connect with others. Notice something positive and personal and send them a message complimenting them for it (in a non-creepy way). Pro-tip: Talk to your ideal clients in their comments section, notice where they interact most and get active there. Remember:- Don't lurk.- You give what you get.- Be genuine when you connect with someone. P.S.: I'm launching a LinkedIn workshop soon that talks about how to build genuine connections on LinkedIn (among other things).#PersonalBranding #LIPostingChallengeIndia #BuildingRelationships #GenuineConnection
