Singapore Airlines jet endured huge swings in gravitational force during turbulence, report says
The Singapore Airlines jetliner that hit severe turbulence last week went through huge swings in gravitational force in less than five seconds, likely causing the injuries to people who weren't buckled into their seats, according to a preliminary report Wednesday by Singapore’s Transport Ministry. The plane dropped 178 feet (54 meters) in less than one second, which “likely resulted in the occupants who were not belted up to become airborne” before falling back down, the Transport Ministry said. A 73-year-old British man died of a suspected heart attack and dozens were injured after the Boeing 777, which was flying from London to Singapore on May 21, ran into turbulence that hurled people and items around the cabin.

F-35 Pilot Left With 'Serious Injuries' After New Mexico Crash
The pilot of an F-35 fighter plane was seriously injured when it crashed near Albuquerque International Sunport on Tuesday, May 28, Lt Jason Fejer, a spokesman for Albuquerque Fire Rescue, said.The crash happened shortly after the plane had refueled at Kirtland Air Force Base en route from Lockheed Martin’s facility in Fort Worth to Edwards Air Force Base in California. The crash happened around 1:45 pm, local news said.“The pilot was able to get out. That pilot was transported with serious injuries, and has been since transported to the hospital. There were two other civilians on scene that were assessed and evaluated on scene. Rescue teams have been slow to reach the site because of treacherous terrain and tribal unrest in the remote area, forcing the military to escort convoys of relief teams.Australia's High Commissioner said aid and personnel have begun to arrive, and the United States has also pledged half a million dollars to relief efforts.Authorities have raised concerns about the outbreak of diseases.Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister James Marape blamed "extraordinary rainfall" and changing weather patterns for the landslide and multiple disasters the Pacific Island nation has faced this year.''On the night of the 24th of May, our people in that village went to sleep for the last time, not knowing that they would breathe their last breaths as they were sleeping peacefully."Thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate the area over fears of further landslides with 70,000 said to be impacted by the disaster.

The most active spring in the U.S. for severe weather in 13 years continued Tuesday with wind gusts of more than 70 mph and thunderstorms prompting new tornado warnings in Texas after twisters tore through the Great Plains and Midwest over the Memorial Day weekend, killing 22 people and and cutting miles-long paths of destruction. Dangerous weather whipped up again in central Texas early Tuesday, causing the National Weather Service to issue a shelter-in-place warning to residents of Fort Worth, where 77 mph wind gusts were reported in the area just before 6 a.m. CT. Severe weather Tuesday included large-sized hail and wind gusts of over 80 mph in Dallas County, Texas, where there is a possibility of tornadoes developing throughout the day and into Tuesday night, officials said.
