Cavis Port Huron George N.

Cavis, 76, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born October 12, 1934 in Manari, Greece. George came to the U.S. In 1951 and began working for his Uncle George at Unique Grill. He opened Cavis Grill in 1960 and it continues to this day.

He was devoted to his faith in the Greek Orthodox Church. George was a lifelong member of the Masons Pine Grove Lodge 11 in Port Huron. He was an avid billiards player and was a Golden Gloves Boxer in the 1950's. He was devoted to his family, in particular his two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; son, Dean of Rochester Hills; daughter, Mary (Tom) Perdikis of Unionville, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Georgios and Catherine; son, a Nicholas (Maria) of Marysville; sister, Vasiliki (Vourtiritsas) of Manari, Greece; brother, Tony (Angela) Cavis of Port Huron; sister, Dimitra (George) Pappas of Chicago, IL; sister, Eleftheria (Christos) Kateyiannis of Lansing; many nieces, nephews and cousins; all the devoted employees throughout the years at Cavis Grill and his many cherished friends and customers whom he regarded as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Katerina. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m.

Saturday and 2-4 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be at 8 p.m. Saturday and a Trisagion Service will be 7 p.m. Sunday.

Roberts James Patrick Beem, 71, passed away on May 19, 2011 in Port Huron Hospital after short illness. He was born on September 29, 1939 in Goodells, son of the late James and Helen Beem. James was an electrician at James River retiring at the age of 62. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved horses and traveling.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Beem of St. Clair; daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Dale Walker of St. Clair; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Amy Beem of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Michael Murphy of Texas; ten grandchildren; sisters: Mary Louise Powers, Barbara (Jim) Butler and Nancy Blaisdel; brothers: John Richard (Gwen). and Dennis (Sylvia) Beem and several nieces and nephews. He was an avid golfer and proud of his Irish heritage. Loving father of Stephanie, Kevin, David, Cynthia and the late Mark. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Susan, brothers Joseph and Edward and his special friend Jean. Dearest grandfather of Rebecca. He is also survived by his brother James.

Johns Hospital Detroit. He was born June 28, 1924 in Detroit, MI. He married Patricia C. Christians on October 20, 1962 in Detroit. She died June 20, 2001.

Lawrence is survived by a son Paul (Brenda) Kramer, grandsons Robert and Daniel. Kramer will be instate at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday May 24, 2011 with Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady On the River Parish St. Catherines Church, Algonac.

Laurel was born in Port Huron, Michigan on February 24th 1959 and graduate of Marysville School. was, 1978 Laurel won the American Business Women's Association scholarship at St. Clair County Community College. Upon graduating as a legal secretary, she worked at a local law firm and then for the State of Michigan as head secretary and then office manager at the Marine City Mental Health Clinic. In 1982 Laurel moved to Washington D.C.

and started a long and interest ing career as an executive assistant at the high profile public relations firm, Hill and Knowlton. Laurel worked for the firm's top executives, Norman Mineta, former Secretary of Transportation, and Gary Hymel who was top aide to House Speaker Tip O'Neil. Frank Mankiewicz, Vice Chairman and former Press Secretary to Bobby Kennedy was Laurel's favorite executive employer who she had started out with when first moving to Washington and up until her passing. Laurel was treated like family by the Mankiewiczs and Frank was also her close friend. She is survived by her mother Alice Laidlaw of Port Huron, a sister Linda Laidlaw of Houston, Texas, a brother Larry Laidlaw and one nephew Alex Laidlaw both of Marysville.

Her father William L. (Ted) Laidlaw, Jr. preceded her in death. Laurel will be missed by her many friends and cohorts here, at the Capital, and abroad. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m.

Laidlaw Washington D.C. Norma Stapleton, age 84 of Lexington, died May 14, 2011 in Port Huron Hospital of complications from an illness. She was born May 5, 1927 to Burton and Mary Raymond in Boston, Massachusetts. and Lawrence (Larry) Stapleton were married August 17, 1946 in Reading, MA. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2010.

Art was a large part of Norma's life. She was an avid painter, and enjoyed painting lighthouses and beach scenes in around Lexington, and was an instrumental part of the Lexington Fine Arts Show. She was a member of the Black River Art Club, and the Blue Water Art Club. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for weddings, birthdays, and special occasions. One of the greatest joys of Norma's life was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Kathryn Langolf of Fort Gratiot, Janice (James) Casterline of Greensboro, NC, and Connie Hart of North Street; 7 grandchildren, Brett (Katie) Langolf of Bexley, Ohio, Dana (Jay) Graham of San Diego, CA, Jeff (Caryn) Casterline of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jason (Cary) Casterline of Raleigh, NC, Jamie Casterline of Greensboro, NC, Holly Kuempel of Wayland, MI, and Dan Hart of Lewiston, MI; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Patricia (Robert) Condon of N. Reading, MA, and Gerry Wright of Washington, MO. A memorial service will take place at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Sarah was born in Peoria, Illinois in July 1937 to Charles and Iola Calvert. Port Huron has been Sarah's home for the past 29 years. Sarah was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 796 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, computer games, spending time with family and friends and singing karaoke.

Cynthia worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 15 years as both a carrier and clerk. She was known for her big personality and ability to make people smile. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney (Vincent) Potvin of Fort Gratiot; two sons, Richard L. Farnsworth III (Rosie Moss) of Fort Gratiot SO and Robert L.

Farnsworth (Jessica Boehm) of Kimball; her "third J.R. The family thanks the staff of the 4th floor Oncology Unit at Mercy Hospital for their loving care and support Lee Ledebuhr Capac Lee Ledebuhr, 91, died May 20, 2011 in his home with his family by his side. He was born September 9, 1919 in Capac. He married Norma Kampe on September 17, 1941. She died March 30, 2011. Lee was a dairy farmer and operated his family farm for many years.

He was a graduate of Capac High School and was a lifelong member of of Zion Community Church. He was also a member of the Capac Lions Club and Farm Bureau. Lee was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Richard (Evelin) Ledebuhr of Bath and Carol (Frank) Duquette of Capac; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; daughter, Nancy Simpson; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Pamela Ledebuhr; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Leah Ledebuhr and his sister, Lucille Ploeger.
